Gleneagles’ trout lochs provide the finest fishing experience – for the expert seeking to extend their range or for a wonderful introduction to the sport. Our ghillies provide a fisherman’s knowledge of the water, and some wry local humour, as well as advice on the best tackle, flies and strategies for a truly unforgettable experience.
Lessons from two hours are available for everyone aged eight and over, with rods and tackle included in the booking fee.
Experienced fly-fishers will find the fabled River Tay nearby, while salmon fishing can be arranged off-property in season.
To carefully control the conditions for trout fishing, the number of rods on the lochs are strictly limited, ensuring maximum enjoyment for guests.

Scotland is renowned as a place of great beauty; tumbling peaty rivers rush through hidden glens while eagles soar in the skies high above the hills. To experience the “real” Scotland and get off the beaten track, why not combine exploration with one of Scotland’s most iconic country pursuits, and take one of our fully guided salmon-fishing expeditions.
We offer fully guided fishing packages, in partnership with Jock Monteith and his team of professional salmon-fishing experts, which allow you access to this wonderful experience, regardless of your level of skill. Our chauffeur will drive you to one of Scotland’s most famous rivers, the Tay, where you will meet your professional ghillie. Under his experienced eye you will learn the art of spey casting with a double-handed salmon fly rod, how to tie on a salmon fly , hook a salmon on the fly, and how to read the river.
The day lasts from 9am to 5pm with a lunch break (a packed lunch can be provided by Gleneagles Hotel) in a comfortable and warm fishing hut.
Packages from £455 - £695 per person per day, depending on location.
