The Gleneagles™ Hotel

Team members and Culture

Caring for the environment is everyone's responsibility. At Gleneagles, there has been a conscious decision not to have one single environmental manager made responsible. All our team members are involved in our green hotel efforts - it is incorporated into the annual performance review.

The following practices help to ensure that we work together to become a sustainable hotel:

Executive involvement

Our executive team are fully supportive and involved in making Gleneagles an environmentally friendly hotel. Monthly walk-rounds are held when they challenge and question the way we do things, resulting in new ideas being brought to the table.

Waste Watchers

Gleneagles has created a group of 'Waste Watchers' from departments throughout the resort. This team help to deliver the environmental message around Gleneagles. They come up with exciting ideas and initiatives for hotel recycling, green tourism and other new environmental measures and then assist in the implementation process.

Induction

All new team members are introduced to green tourism practices and sustainable hotel processes during their first two days at the resort.

Visual impact

We have 'planted' a tree within the main service corridor - painted onto the wall! Every time we have an achievement towards becoming an environmentally friendly hotel, a new leaf is attached with date and the achievement. The greener Gleneagles gets, the greener the tree!

Perthshire Big Tree Country

Any funds raised by team members throughout the year are donated in support of the Perthshire Big Tree Country. If all team members are involved, they quickly become a part of the overall implementation and customer focus on this project.
