The PGA National Golf Academy
The Golf Academy was established in 1994, and at that time led the golf coaching revolution within the UK; providing a specific location where one could learn all elements of the game.
In 2010 the PGA® selected Gleneagles as the venue for the PGA National Academy for Scotland and sees golf coaching revolutionised once more. The PGA National Academy provides an excellent opportunity for players and coaches to work together to develop their skills and expertise, and over time provide a focal point for the development of coaching and education in Scotland.
This allows all skill levels of golfer to benefit from the PGA National Academy Professional’s knowledge; from those never holding a club before, to those with dreams of carving a career within the game!
Below is our latest video from Andrew Jowett, Senior Golf Professional who outlines some techniques for improving your scores.
The Driving Range
The PGA National Academy at Gleneagles has a 320 yard double-ended driving range with capacity for 40 golfers, providing an important focus for developing a player's short game in addition to improving play from the tee.
'Gleneagles is a wonderful place to play and practise golf. I have been very fortunate growing up just twenty minutes away. I have made good use of the fantastic practise facilities: the range, the short game area and the many practise putting greens, over the years. The professionals and all the other staff at Gleneagles are exceptionally friendly and have been very helpful in furthering my career in golf, by allowing me the use of the facilities whenever I want. The range is great all year round - in the summer, there is a grass tee at the bottom I can use and plenty of space to do an intensity practise session. There are undercover hits bays that have allowed me to keep working on my swing during the cold winters in Scotland. For anyone that has not had the chance to use the practise facilities or play any one of the three wonderful courses, then they should try their best to come to and see what a gem Gleneagles really is.'
Wallace Booth, World Cup Winner - Eisenhower Trophy 2008
“I feel very privileged to be able to use the excellent facilities that Gleneagles has to offer. It has everything I could ever ask for – three fantastic golf courses, a good driving range and a first class short game area. I want my game to be as sharp as possible when I go out on tour and I know that Gleneagles offers me the very best when it comes to practicing and testing all areas of my game. The icing on the cake for me is that it’s very close to my home, so I really am very lucky”
