The Spirit of Gleneagles
Gleneagles is a world class, Five Red Star international resort with a distinctive Scottish quality. To commemorate two of Scotland's most famous creations, whisky and golf, Gleneagles has specially commissioned an exclusive Scotch whisky, available only at the resort.
Gleneagles 18 year-old Single Malt Speyside whisky is available in a specially designed bottle crowned with the Gleneagles crest and offered in a presentation box together with a history of the development of the golf ball and six examples of the changing style of ball.
The new whisky is available only in bars at Gleneagles or in the Still Room, where a bottle retails at £145. Tasting notes describe the prestigious new whisky as having "A rich malty sweetness, balanced with an elegant smoky dryness. A whisky of considerable finesse reflecting its rarity and unique origin."
Principal suites in the hotel are named after Scotland's most famous whiskies, Royal Lochnagar Selected Reserve and the Classic Malts, Cragganmore, Dalwhinnie, Glenkinchie, Oban and Talisker. Guests in each of the suites are presented with a miniature bottle of each of the Classic Malts and a guide to nosing and tasting.
The three bars in the resort contain a selection of Scotch whiskies, including Royal Lochnagar and the Classic Malts. A whisky trolley, featuring 50 rare malts including single cask dated whiskies, is popular with guests after dinner in the Strathearn; the whiskies are served in hand blown Austrian glasses which were exclusively designed for malt whisky - their fluted shape accentuates the aroma and taste of the malt.
The Still Room, in the Gleneagles Arcade, is the United Kingdom's most exclusive liquor shop specialising in top of the range brands normally available only for export.
