Off Road Driving at Gleneagles
Guests have an opportunity to leave the manicured lawns of one of The Leading Hotels of the World and test their skills in handling a four wheel drive vehicle over two of Britain's most challenging off road courses, purpose built in the beautiful Perthshire Highlands.
The courses were designed by some of Britain's leading off road specialists to include ridges, gullies, steep gradients, ditches and water splashes. Guests are taught the specialist techniques of hill climbing, controlled descents, traversing slopes and general vehicle handling over rough or wet terrain.
Guests learn basic techniques during a 75 minute lesson. More detailed instruction is available in longer sessions. Corporate parties are usually taught in groups of four and the available tuition time is shared. Guests can be scored competitively, in teams or individually and certificates awarded.
All off road participants must have a valid driving licence.
In August 2000, the Junior Off Road was introduced to Gleneagles. Kids aged from six years upwards are able to receive instruction from behind the wheel of Land Rover replicas. They are taught how to manoeuvre over obstacles such as log piles, rustic bridges, off set logs, sleeping policemen, side tilts and water splashes on a purpose built course mimicking the “grown ups” course.
