Family gundog experience
Our canine team is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face, regardless of their age. Gleneagles’ sleek, highly trained and obedient Labradors will follow your commands like a dream. Pick up tips from our expert handlers, learn a trick or two to try out on your own canine companion back home, or simply enjoy a huge amount of fun. And after your session, why not finish the day off with a tailor-made family picnic?
Your own pony for the afternoon
For children, it’s hard to beat the excitement and exhilaration of spending a blissful afternoon looking after a pony. This enchanting hands-on experience, hosted at the Gleneagles Equestrian School, teaches little ones (aged 6 and upwards) the rudiments of caring for a horse, from grooming to tacking up, and is followed by a riding lesson.
At Gleneagles you’ll discover a treasure trove of boredom-busting activities on offer for teens, like exploring the 850-acre estate on a Segway. You can cruise around at your leisure or, if it’s thrills you’re looking for, let us know and we can arrange a Segway obstacle course for you and your friends.
Pitch ‘n’ putt competition
For larger groups of children looking to work off some energy and indulge their competitive spirit, a pitch ‘n’ putt competition is the perfect way to keep everyone entertained. After the game, scorecards can be passed to our concierge team, who will provide the winner with a special prize.
It’s hard to beat the fun and exhilaration of exploring the untamed beauty of Scotland’s mountains, glens and lochs with a your family. Wave goodbye to the beaten track and let your off-road driving instructor help you discover the stunning scenery, wildlife and history of rural Perthshire and the Scottish Highlands. You may see red deer, grouse, peregrine falcons, merlins, blue hares and golden eagles in their native habitat and soak up the inspirational and majestic views.
Even if you’re not really a morning person, there’s nothing quite like taking a walk through our beautiful 850-acre estate first thing to set you up for the day ahead and remind you why Gleneagles is so special. There’s a range of walks to choose from but, for an early morning amble, nothing beats the Glenmor walk, which takes you over moorland and through woodland. Breathe in that crisp, pure Perthshire air, listen to the birdsong, watch the sun rise, take in the inspiring views and spot local wildlife... just make sure you’re wearing sturdy, waterproof footwear: we can certainly promise you beauty and tranquillity but we can’t guarantee dry footpaths.
You’ve enjoyed a delicious lunch in one of our restaurants and now the family is suffering a post-lunch slump. Why not hire a bike from The Health Club, feel the fresh air on your face and soak up the scenery on one of the estate’s three cycling and jogging routes? The gentle tracks offer one, two or three-mile routes and give you the opportunity to see Gleneagles’ magnificent championship golf courses and the nearby Ochil Hills. It’s the perfect pick-me-up, leaving you feeling refreshed, revived and ready for Afternoon Tea.
