Career Training at Gleneagles
Gleneagles Equestrian School offers excellent options for training to pass the British Horse Society (BHS) exams. Worldwide hundreds of students each year embark on training for the British Horse Society Preliminary Instructor (BHSPI) certificate, an internationally recognised qualification of horse riding, teaching and stable management. In order to gain the BHSPI certificate, four separate exams must be taken – Stages I - III and the Preliminary Teaching Test (PTT). To upgrade to the BHSAI certificate, a portfolio of teaching evidence must be compiled.
Gleneagles Equestrian School is an exam centre, hosting BHS exams levels 1 – 4 plus the PTT and IT exams through out the year – see the BHS website or forthcomiong events for future dates. It can be advantageous for candidates to train at the centre where they intend to take the exam, familiarising themselves with the horses and facilities.
There are various ways to train for these exams at Gleneagles:
Evening Courses
These usually run for 6 weeks between January - June, and September - December. Each class consists of a riding lesson followed by a stable management / practical / theory session covering the syllabus for that particular level. Places are in demand as groups are small (no more than 6) so first come first served.
Morning Classes
We run weekly training for our staff, which we are inviting outside clients to join in. This allows us to offer real value for money, and allows you to benefit from training alongside professional grooms. The lecture subjects will run on a rolling 6 week block, and you may join at any time. The cost is a very competitive £180 for 6 weeks, booking and payment in advance is required.
Intensive Training
For students seeking a longer term package, we can offer full time training for a duration of 4 weeks or more. We pride ourselves on tailoring these packages specifically for the individual, and can offer a variety of training options to suit – usually students opt to have 2 riding lessons and 1 or 2 theory sessions per day, with the aim of passing either Stages 1 and 2, or 3 and PTT in a set time frame. Some students also opt to work on the yard without their training hours – this can provide invaluable practical experience, but each individual is assessed on their own merit to ascertain if this would be a beneficial arrangement for both parties.
